Austin Tamil School (ATSC) “Drawing Competition – 2019” rules and guidelines.

1. Judges decision is final (*)
2. ATSC committed to introducing Tamil culture to students in addition to other activities. As we are celebrating Pongal in this month, ATSC requests parents and students to choose any of the following concepts for the competition.

    1. Boghi ( A scenery that depicts getting rid of unused items and burns it)
    2. Pongalo Pongal ( a scenery preparing Pongal and worshipping the SUN with sugar cane)
    3. Mattu Pongal ( a scenery that depicts either “worshipping cows and bulls” or jallikattu (Eruthu vidum thiru vizha)
    4. Thalai Vazhai Ilai Saappadu (a picture that depicts feast with Banana leaf and other items starting with salt, pickle, appalam, kootu etc etc)
    5. Uzhavan ( A picture that depicts a Tamil farmer who works in the farm with bulls)
    6. Thiruvizha ( A picture that depicts ther thiru vizha i.e car festival)
    7. Rekla Race ( a picture that depicts competition of bullock-cart race)
    8. Poombukar ( a picture that depicts the history of poombukar)
    9. Thiru Valluvar
    10. Bharathiyar
    11. Avvaiyar
    12. Maamallapuram
    13. kallanai
    14. Vivekananda Rock (Kanyakumari)
    15. Marina Beach ( Chennai)
    16. Sera, Choza and Pandiya Naadu
    17. etc etc

3. Students are welcome to choose any other Pongal Festival or Tamil Culture related concept.
4. Students are welcome to choose non-pongal/Tamil culture related concept. please note that less weightage for those concepts.
5. Students have to bring their own supplies to the competition
1. There will be no weightage for the materials used
6. Students should begin drawing the picture in front of the judges and stop when judges are announcing the end time.
7. Students should respect other students during competition. They should not talk or make noise during the competition, It may lead to disqualification.
8. Students can raise hands if they need help or have a question during the competition. Judges will reach out to students.
9. No parents or helpers will be allowed during the competition. It is not to distract the students from drawing.
10. After 40 minutes of un-interrupted drawing, Judges may ask 1 or 2 questions about the drawing to the students.
11. There will be 2 categories based on students age group.

    Category 1: Age group 5 – 9
    Category 2: Age group 10 and above
